After a stellar debut season in the BTCC, BTC Norlin Racing has announced it will be competing under a Honda hood for the upcoming 2018 season.
Team Manager Bert Taylor said the Honda move “highlights the ambitions” of the BTC Norlin Racing team as it continues to invest in the BTCC series and progresses to become a regular fixture on the podium.
BTC Norlin Racing finished the 2017 season with no less than ten Top 10 placings across the series, including a podium finish for Dave Newsham at Silverstone. By the conclusion of the series, the team had climbed to place 4th in the Independent Team standings.
Mr Taylor said: “We wish to extend special thanks to Honda and Barry Plowman, Steve Neal and Matt Neal from Team Dynamics who gave us this unique opportunity to acquire world-class manufacturer’s machinery.”
Richard Irwin, co-owner of BTC Norlin Racing, added: “The Honda Civic Type R has consistently been at the front of the BTCC grid with drivers such as Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal. Norlin will strive to challenge for the independent title in the coming seasons and the switch of body shells was important to achieve this.”
Norlin and Central Fusion will continue to sponsor the cars in 2018, along with a number of new sponsors that will be announced in the coming weeks.
Stephen Symington, co-owner alongside Mr Irwin, said: “The professionalism and ambition of the BTC Norlin Racing team surprised many in our debut season, attracting the attention of a number of new sponsors and brands. We look forward to welcoming them to the BTCC experience very soon.”
